The Peak District, Staffordshire


Staffordshire's part of the peak district includes some staggering countryside, loved by visitors and walkers. There are many rock formations, heather moorlands and stunning views.

Tittesworth Water

Tittesworth Water
For all the family with visitor centre, sensory garden, adventure playground and wildlife walks alongside the water. Take a picnic and make a day of it.

Overlooking Tittesworth are the Roaches, a huge rock outcrop with wonderful views, used by climbers and walkers.



Flash is the highest village in England 462m above sea level. Years gone by it was a favourite place for robbers and illegal prize fights.

The Dane Valley
A valley with woodland, a great place for walking. Hidden amongst the trees is a natural gorge, known as St Luds Church.

Longnor
Staffordshires only indoor climbing wall, Upper Limits is located here and the village has an ancient market place and hall which is now a craft centre. Many local events held here.

Dovedale, Beresford and Wolfscote Dales
Where the river Dove runs through a truly beautiful valley. Izaak Walton's famous book 'The compleat Angler' is based on his fishing exploits here with his lifelong friend Charles Cotton. There are beautiful stepping stones across the river. A popular place for visitors.

The Manifold Valley
Limestone gorge once the route of the Leek & Manifold valley Railway. Now a track which is great for walking and cycling, suitable for disabled persons.
There are displays and information about the local history in the visitors centre.

Thors Cave is wide mouthed and looks out over the Manifold Valley, named after teh Norse Gold of Thunder. It is a steep climb with the reward of stunning views.

Brown End Quarry in Waterhouses is a Geological Nature Reserve owned by the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. You can discover what the area was like millions of years ago when it was a tropical sea.

Ilam Park is managed by the national trust. The river Manifold runs through. It is here when in the summer the river goes underground bubbles up in boil holes where it re-emerges. Parkland and woodland, great to visit with you cycle or just to walk.
